Cycling along the Finnish-Russian border

Location

  • Satamatie 11 53900 Lappeenranta Navigate

Cycle with Best Guest Finland along an approximately 200-kilometer section of the Iron Curtain Route, an excellent long-distance cycle path with a total length of over 10,000 kilometers (EUROVELO 13). Here we are at the peaceful eastern border of the European Union, but you will find traces of a military past experienced prior to Finnish independence - at times under the Swedish crown, at times under the Russian emperor. Scenically, the route is characterized by many quiet sections through forests and along lakes. Enjoy the tranquility, breathe in the fresh forest air, take relaxing breaks with lake views and experience the cultural treasures of Eastern Finland at various stopovers along the route. The journey ends in Finland's national landscape in Punkaharju, where you can return to Lappeenranta or continue to Savonlinna depending your interests and holiday plan. Natural peace and a relaxed lifestyle are the virtue here. You meet hospitable local people. The accommodations are in atmospheric small bed & breakfasts and traditional summer cottages or cabins away from the tourist hustle and bustle. Note! Tour package can be shortened by days (longer day rides) or by length (to cut out part of the route).
