Pattoi Nature Trail

A nature trail of about one kilometre runs through the nature reserve between the Pattoi heritage house and Aaronlaavu lean-to on the shore of Jukajärvi. The nature trail follows the Pattoi winter road, which used to lead past the Pattoi heritage house to the shore of Jukajärvi and from there across the ice towards Piikkilä Manor. The trail can be followed either from the yard of the Pattoi heritage house to the shore of Jukajärvi or vice versa. In the nature reserve, there are a duckboard and a resting place halfway along the trail. A nice place to grill sausages or buns is the lean-to on the shore of Jukajärvi. The second lean-to is located on the edge of the fir tree stand of the Pattoi heritage house. Along the way, you can enjoy views of the Pattoi farm's meadows and the nature reserve's beautiful, unspoilt spruce forest with its swamps and giant ant hills. In the peace and quiet of the forest, you can listen to birdsong and the breeze blowing through the branches of stiff evergreen trees and wonder about the cattle bridge - how can it be that sheep don't run off into the forest across the bridge? The Pattoi Winter Trail nature trail is easy to follow and ideal for families. The trail is marked with Saimaa Geopark logo poles.
