Nordic skating is an fantastic, safe way to experience the natural ice and enjoy lake Saimaa in winter! Our 16 km skating track network of Punkaharju is one of the longest in Finland and has suitable, short routes for families and beginners, but also long routes for experienced skaters. The track network starts from the shore of Holiday Resort Harjun Portti, 100m away from the Retretti-train stop, our restaurant and equipment rental, where you can collect skating equipment and kick-sleds. Skating sets bookable online. In 2022-2023 there is 4 routes, when everything is open: * 5,5 km route to Haataansaari island to campfire spot * 7,5 km from Harjun Portti to Siplahti (via Kruunupuisto) and back * 1,8 km route around Kaarnalahti bay * 1,5 km route around Valkialampi pond TICKETS There is a 8€/day ticket fee to the track. This can be bought from rental or from restaurant. SKATING DIARY On natural ice, the ice condition and opening of track changes very often and greatly - you can follow track maintenance information on the Nordic Skating Diary from the companys website (both in english and in finnish). Routes usually open around New Year and are open until Mid/end of March.
